WESTVIEW ABBEY & MAUSOLEUM (1943), ATLANTA, GA
The Westview Abby and Mausoleum gracefully sits within the landscape of Atlanta’s 600-acre cemetery. In 1943, at the
time of its construction, it stood as the largest building of its kind, holding over 11,000 crypts. Landmark Preservation
LLC (Landmark) was hired as the general contractor and tasked with the complete cleaning and restoration of the
exterior façade. With the help of Landmark, water intrusion and its adverse effect on the building’s materials and
overall condition have been remedied. The scope of exterior work included but was not limited to:
Cleaning of decorative cast stone
Replacement of 36,000 square feet of deficient roofing and flashings
Restoration and reglazing of eleven historic skylights
Repair and repointing of approximately 900 linear feet of cast stone parapet
Sealing of union of cast stone parapet members and application of waterproofing coating (horizontal surfaces only)
Repair of 34 leader heads and downspouts (including jetting to clear obstructions)
Repair of terra cotta roofing and coping
